Immortel - French Sci-Fi

It's not often you see French sci-fi, but those that you do see are memorable, like The City of Lost Children (one could argue about calling it sci-fi, I guess) and The Fifth Element. Now there is a newish (released in 2004) film getting some attention in the blogosphere.. The film is Immortel (Ad Vitam) (IMDB), a French movie done in English. The film is an adaptation by writer/director Enki Bilal of his own comics, the Nikopol Trilogy.

After looking at the trailer, I am really interested in this... it has a very unique look and the mix of Egyptian mythology and dystopian society (somewhat like StarGate, I guess) is something I'd really like to see..

Unfortunately it seems that the film hasn't had a worldwide release, so I will have to dig around to see if I can find a DVD of it. seems Amazon has both the DVD and the trade-paperback of the comic. hmmmm...

I've seen quite a few comparisons to Sin City.. and as far as I'm concerned that's a good thing.. If this is half as good as Sin City then it's miles ahead of the movies coming from Hollywood.
